Senior Publicist, Trade (Location: New York, NY)

Scholastic Trade is looking for a Senior Publicist to work with book authors and illustrators. The person in this position will be responsible for implementing innovative publicity campaigns for key titles, brands, and franchises, with a special focus on digital/multi-platform properties.

The Senior Publicist will create comprehensive tour schedules, schedule travel and events, arrange media interviews, write press materials and pitch letters, research media contacts, and fulfill review copy requests. Experience pitching national and local media for print, TV, radio, and online is a must. This position will report directly to the VP of Publicity and Brand Strategy.

Additional Responsibilities and Qualifications Include:

  • Minimum 4-6 years PR experience 
  • Experience writing press releases and pitch letters and interacting with the media
  • Experience in digital and social media preferred, and knowledge of children’s books a plus
  • Some management experience, and familiarity with media databases such as Cision and Publicity Assistant a plus

Manufacturing Manager (Location: New York, NY)

Scholastic’s manufacturing team is looking for a seasoned manager.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage and coordinate prepress for Cartwheel Novelty, Book Club Original and Pick-up Novelty, and Licensed Novelty titles
  • Create and implement comprehensive prepress schedules 
  • Manage prepress costs
  • Traffic materials internally and externally
  • Review proofs and resolve prepress issues.
  • Maintain cost and schedule information in internal systems

Desired Qualifications Include:

  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience in the publishing industry
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to negotiate with vendors
  • Knowledge of product safety
  • Proficiency with Apple Mac and Adobe InDesign, Photoshop & Illustrator a plus
