It's official: Kids have clocked 100 million summer reading minutes!

Seven weeks into the Summer Reading Challenge and kids have logged an impressive 100 million reading minutes so far! Our Book Fairs team is celebrating the milestone in front of one of our Summer Reading Road Trip RV's (pictured right).

This week was packed full with summer reading events — see below for a few highlights!

Last night, Scholastic parent bloggers Amy Mascott (Teach Mama) and Allison McDonald (No Time for Flash Cards) took over the Parents Facebook page for a summer reading chat. They posed questions to participants (like this one: What are some ways you make reading fun, fresh, and exciting for kids in the summer?) and shared tips throughout the evening.

On Wednesday, Scholastic Librarian Deimosa Webber-Bey shared her top book recommendations for reluctant readers in a Facebook Live Video! Thousands of people watched her talk through an entire library cart of sports books, books tha make kids laugh, series, non-fiction titles, and more.

The Summer Reading Road Trip RV's cruised through California and Florida this week, making stops at Books Inc. (Alameda, CA) and Books-A-Million (Kissimmee, FL). Check out the Road Trip calendar to see if there's an event near you!
