In Our Feeds: The Hunger Games, shaking it off, words invented by writers & more

Every Friday, we share a handful of links that we found funny, provocative or just plain cool. We call it In Our Feeds. Have a great weekend!

This week it was all about one thing… The Hunger Games! Just in time for today’s film debut, both Lia and Megan spotted this great collection of “12 Charts All ‘Hunger Games’ Fans Will Understand.” Be sure to also check out the “Mockingjay mayhem” guest post from Associate Director of Publicity at Scholastic, Sheila Marie Everett. Have you seen Mockingjay, Part 1 yet?

Also this week, Alex shared this fantastic “Shake It Off” video created by the talented students and staff at North Dover Elementary School in Dover, NJ to combat bullying. It’s impossible to not want to sh-sh-shake it off once you hear this catchy song!

When it comes to books and reading, the OOM team read a ton of interesting articles throughout the week. Nadia noticed this list of “the top 10 words invented by writers,” which includes some surprises such as the words “bedazzled,” “serendipity” and “whodunit.” Megan found herself exploring the realm of guilty pleasure reads with this article from HuffPost Books and Lia asked the question, “Which book marked your transition from child to adult?

Have you ever wondered what your favorite superheroes would look like in the future? What about in the 16th century? Michael B. shared this great photo series depicting superheroes as 16th century paintings. My personal favorite is the pensive Cat Woman portrait. And speaking of art, here’s a fun quiz to kick off the weekend: Can you identify these classic novels by their cover art?

Lastly, here are some other great reads from this week:

Have a wonderful weekend everyone, and stay warm!
