In Our Feeds: YA trends, what a pilot sees, nomadic libraries, Harriet Tubman

Every Friday, we share a handful of links that we found funny, provocative or just plain cool. We call it In Our Feeds. Have a great weekend!

If you're a Young Adult lit fan like I am, this piece from Publishers Weekly should interest you: What to Expect When You're Expecting YA (Kudos on the title, PW!) It's a great spotlight on some YA trends, including horror -- one of my favorites!

Kristen showed me a fascinating piece from the New York Times that takes you through the journey of flying a plane. Next time you're settling into a flight with a good book, take a moment and think of what your pilot is seeing! Bonus: this piece is gorgeously written; immersive and poem-like.

Meanwhile, a question: where do you get books when there are no bookstores nearby? You're probably yelling at me, "The internet, dummy!" But what if there's no internet nearby, either? Answer: nomadic libraries. Brittany sent me this story from Hyperallergic. (The photos alone are worth the click.)

There was lots of buzz this week about the results of a poll that asked which woman should replace Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill. Gina sent me a Buzzfeed piece that shares the background and results, and the winner is: Harriet Tubman! Who did you vote for?
