On the podcast: The importance of reading aloud

Here at Scholastic, reading aloud is one of our favorite things. Working on the podcast, I hear time and time again from authors, editors, and educators how some of their most cherished memories are those in which a loved one read aloud to them. And there's an abundance of data (including from our own Kids & Family Reading Report) that shows why people love read-alouds so much: They're important for a child's happiness and development!

With that in mind, it's no surprise that we're thrilled to be celebrating World Read Aloud Day, a global celebration that calls attention to the importance of reading aloud and sharing stories by challenging participants to grab a book, find an audience, and read out loud.

In honor of the day, we released a new podcast episode all about the read aloud, featuring Pam Allyn, Ernest Morrell, Nick Cannon, and Andrea Davis Pinkney.

You can listen to the episode here, or by subscribing to Scholastic Reads via iTunes. And catch up on past episodes right here!
