Ten Tips for fostering avid readers, from Phyllis C. Hunter

Last week, Scholastic Education introduced Ten Tips, a new video series that will offer practical, easy-to-use strategies for helping kids learn to and love to read. We're kicking off the series with Phyllis Hunter, author of It's Not Complicated: What I Know for Sure About Helping Our Students of Color Become Successful Readers, and creator of the Phyllis C. Hunter Classroom Libraries.

Below, check out Phyllis's 10th tip: "Talk! Let them hear words!", which is all about the value of oral language, and exposing kids to lots and lots of words.
