Worlds Collide Convention came to Scholastic HQ

This past weekend, Scholastic Headquarters in New York City was proud to host the first ever Worlds Collide Convention, a fan celebration of Scholastic’s multiplatform publishing programs The 39 CluesSpirit AnimalsInfinity Ring, and TombQuest.

Following the success of last year’s “Worlds Collide” tour, we took things to the next level where fans could meet even more authors across the series all in one hub: Jude Watson, Gordon Korman, Michael Northrop, Tui T. Sutherland, Eliot Schrefer, Linda Sue Park, Jennifer A. Nielsen, Peter Lerangis, and Natalie Standiford.

Over 400 attendees convened at Scholastic on Saturday, March 21st with the line extending out in the streets of Soho before the doors even opened. They all gathered to watch the authors act out scenes from their books, test play new series game demos, get their face painted, take a photo with their favorite characters from the books, and also attend panels featuring book editors. Fans got the opportunity to interact with authors directly, asking them questions about plot choices, characters, and other insider info. During the editors’ panel future authors got writing tips and built a character in an interactive activity.

During one of the live author performances, author Eliot Schrefer revealed the cover of the first book in the new Spirit Animals Fall of the Beast launching this summer. Fans were really excited to see this and learn more about the new series.

While the events were going on at Scholastic HQ, kids around the world had the opportunity to “attend” virtually via live chats with the authors making this a truly a global celebration. Each of the live chats has been archived and can be viewed here.

At the end of the day, each attendee got the chance to meet and talk with their favorite authors and get their books signed. With many kids dressed in costume, all excited about books, it was the ultimate book fan fest!
